Jonathan Lemon

Jonathan Lemon draws the long running Alley Oop comic strip, which started in 1933 and been featured on a U.S. postage stamp and in the lyrics of a David Bowie song. He also creates two other daily comic strips: Rabbits Against Magic (, which has been running daily since 2006 and was nominated for the NCS Silver Reuben in 2012, 2014, and 2021) and Thatababy which runs in newspaper worldwide. A longtime San Francisco resident, he’s originally from London, England, and was once a stand-up comedian and a minor popstar. He attended the University of Havana in Cuba and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras. He has been a member of the National Cartoonists Society since 2012 and serves on the board as Vice President.
